Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
The part-time position of clerk to the town supervisor is responsible for monitoring and maintaining all financial records for the town.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process bi-weekly payroll. This includes paying all vendors timely for payroll deductions (dues, deferred comp). In addition, all Federal and NYS withholdings, W-2s, and 1099s are paid/reconciled/submitted timely as required
- Review and process all accounts payables/vouchers and generate checks monthly. All bills are approved by the legislative board before payments are made
- Attend and present financial statements at the monthly board meeting
- Keep track and monitor all expenditures made for Capital Projects
- Prepare the annual town budget
- Monitor and process all deposits (receipts) in the town’s bank including clerk’s deposits and ACHs from local, state, and federal entities.
- Complete bank reconciliations for all accounts monthly.
- Annual submission of the NYS Comptrollers Annual Financial Report (AUD)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
B.S. in Accounting or Finance or similar combination of education and experience.

SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Thorough knowledge of financial accounting
- Extensive experience in Microsoft excel and various accounting software (Edmunds Gov Tech is the current town software).
- Excellent math skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
- Ability to function independently and driven to learn more with minimal guidance
The candidate will have the ability to work remotely +90% of the time or can work at the town office.
